Default HifloFiltro Filters

Are these just K&N filters put into a different box? Anyone compared the two? The part numbers are even about the same.

no they are not. HiFlo used to make the filters for K&N, K&N now uses another manufacturer, hence all the failure issues. DO NOT use K&N oil filters.
Hi Flo filters are an excellent choice for use, i use them exclusively at my shop and have been using them for 25+ years.

Thanks for the info. I haven't heard of any failure issues with Harley filters from k&n? They had a recall awhile back but they weren't the harley filters.

HifloFiltro are the only oil filters I use. I prefer the ones with the RC suffix at the end of the part number because they have the nut welded to the end.

I think the issue being referenced is that there were some batches of K&N Harley filters with a tolerancing issue, where the threaded part of the filter would only grab a couple of threads on the mounting point when fully tightened. Here's one thread about it:
