Default Oil

Just changed my oil in crank case yesterday @ 5000 miles. I checked the Transmation looked good. I few years ago I sent an oil sample to Blackstone labs to have it checked. Mobil 1 SYS with 5200 miles results came back and it still had 70% life. So why at 5000 I don't know. Also, every time I change the trans. oil Bell Ray it still looks good as new. Prymary looks like **** coming out of the bottle. What are your thoughts on oil changing timing? I know some will say cheap maintenance because they only ride a few thousand miles a year, me its 3 to 4 changes a year.

Since you do it yourself, do all three at the maintenance recommend time for motor. Don't worry about the silly one year thing. Ten thousand is probably a good number.

The primary and transmission have no filters, and you may get a little trash out if you do it quick when hot.

Do not use high detergent oils there. Straight weight non detergent gear oil. Really only place handy for that is two quarts at the Harley dealer. No biggie.

Mobile 1 15W-50 15,000 mile oil is good stuff. Been testing it for years. Four new vehicles and the bike. Oldest is bike but a 05 CRV at 110,000 when I did plugs ad checked valve clearance and chain timing looked like brand new under the valve cover. Have a 07 Civic with 180K that still runs like new.

Just did our 2020 Fit (20K) Sunday that had 12,400 on oil. Just second change. But it had been to VA, then TX and back to FL. That was -2100 on the maintenance minder in 6 months. New stuff in warranty, I try to do what they say.

PS.. my 93 Jeep with 300K I did a in-frame overhaul was to noisy with it. I bumped up a 2016 Subie with 20K from 0W-20 to 10W-30 for the same reason.
