Default Pipe Plugs What For?

Does anyone know what these pipe plugs do? Can they be used for a 5 quart oil change. Looked in the manual and say nothing about these guys.

Ronnie J, I know that! but there has to be another reason why the factory would put those in. It brings the cost of the part up having to do the extra machining and allen studs. I know that if they can save a penny per bike at the factory, they are going to do it! So there must be some other reason than what you have explained. But thanks your intentions were good!

They are casting plugs, not intended to be used. In the actual casting/making of the part process, it leaves these holes. The plugs are just to cover the holes and to keep your oil from running out.

They do look like a good place to hook up an oil cooler, but then all your oil wouldn't be filtered.

Thanks markster6828 thats what I wanted to know. It is too bad that you cant run a cooler on it. I was thinking that you may be able to do a five quart oil change using these ports, if you had some type of valve on the return line to the oil sump. Thanks again.
