i wonder ???
just use shell-rotella in everything ?
as an ex-truck driver, i used reg, ol' 15-40 shell-rotella in everything i own, tractors, lawn mowers, peterbilts ect.
makes it soooooo eazy , just hve one oil for everything.
everything worked fine, even my bikes, goldwing and harley,
and you can get great deal's on oil if you buy it in the 55 gallon can.
weet
A lot of riders swear by Rotella in other bikes like the SV650 which calls for 10w-40 but Rotella 15-40 is the wrong viscosity for an air cooled gasoline engine. (your mower engine has a fan) You might get away with it in your primary but I wouldn't want to rely on it in the engine which calls for 50 weight.

I use Shell-rotella in all my other bikes that take 10-40 oil. Is rotella 15-40 too thin for harley?
Well I use Mobil 1 20W-50 V-Twin in the Engine, Mobil 1 15w-50 automotive in the Primary, and Mobil 1 75-90 Gear lube in the Trans. It is silky smooth. I am sure the engine and Tranny are fine, but I am curious about the 15W-50 in the Primary. It seems fine. Since you are an independent repair/ rebuild person, I thought you might have some insight.
