Any one here install an oil cooler on an FLHTC or similar? I have one on my bike now but it is leaking where the two halves come together (Supposedly a \\;common problem on the old coolers from 2002?) and I want to just buy a new one and install it myself. It looks simple, a few screws and hoses, is it that easy? Thanks for any help!
I did stop the leak between the two halves of the 2000-2005 (JAGG design) oil cooler/filter adapter. After several attempts to stop leaks between the halves using the original gasket I made a replacement gasket (same thickness), which was made of a composite rubber and cork. This combination is far less apt to distort when the screws are tightened. The new gasket needs to be very well made and the screw need to be tightened equally using a criss-cross pattern. I also used a Loctite gasket eliminator product to season the gasket surfaces at assembly. Once this was done it has lasted leak free for seven years now.
Replacing \\;it with \\;a new \\;adapter will not be too hard just cost money. You may be able to buy just the adapter rather than the whole cooler kit, ask you parts guy.
Hope this helps

Thanks, yeah I will ask him about just the adapter and not the whoel cooler. However, he said that design I have from 2002 had been discontinued because they had so many leak problems, so I am kind of thinking they won't have the replacement parts for it and will require me to buy a new cooler?
And I didn't really know what he meant by leaking between the two halves? I mean, there really is the cooler unit itself that mounts up under by the fender, the hoses and the adapter for the filter. What two halves is there?
Replacing the old (2-piece) filter adapter with the new (1-piece HD PNs: 26139-05, 26041-05A \\;and 12057-05) design should be very easy and once done will update the only parts you should ever need.  \\;

I tried looking for those part no.'s and cannot find them online? I am assuming if I call the dealer he can find them? So that one piece would work with my current cooler? I can jsut replace the adapter?
I just installed a Jagg 10 row low mount cooler on my FLHTC. \\; The adapter was tough (for me) but no leaks, so far. \\; I had to finesse the gasket by \\;elongating one of the screw holes with a chain saw file. \\;Jagg recommends tightening the adapter screws at every oil change.

I called the dealer to order those parts, the 26139-05 is the adapter for a softtail, the 26041-05A is a fitting (that's what the guys said the description is) and the 12057-05 is the gasket. what would I get for parts for an Electraglide though? He didn't really know what I was talking about and said he assumed the one that says fitting is the adapter for the touring models? Is that right?
