Not trying to be a smart azz, just suggest you take the bike to an authorized tech and have him/her perform the service(s).

Took me 11 tries just to post this much [:@] ... a detailed reply might take years!

My best advice: Invest in a factory service manual. You will save the cost in 1 oil change.

Take a ride for a half hour.
Pull the oil fill plug.
Unscrew oil drain plug and check the magnetic end for metal particles.
Unscrew the filter and let the hole drain.
Install new filter; put a little oil on the rubber ring of the filter. Hand tighten.
Replace the "O" ring on the oil drain plug and install the plug.
Fill with ALMOST 4 qtarts of oil. (my 06 Road King)
Replace the oil fill plug.
Crank it up and check for leaks.
Good luck .

Sounds like you should buy an HD service manual.
