Oil Filter Height

I have a question regarding an 80 shovelhead. I have this in a flyrite frame. Currently the oil filter is out in front on the frame. I'd like to move it back further towards the engine - or in back. My question is regarding the height.

Is there a preferred height for the filter? ie - not above the crank?

Just looking for options.

.My old `81 low rider had a cartridge style filter in the oil tank that was under the seat so I wouldn`t think it would be much of an issue.To be sure,post this in with the shovelhead people.Toby
