Default rookie question

I just purchased my first hd a 2007 ultra classic, and I have a thing about changing oil on any used vehicle I buy. My problem is 3 drain plugs, took out all 3 and relized only one is oil. I know one is for the tranny, but what is the third one for, it is on the primary drive side. And where do I put the tranny fluid and the oil for the other plug. There is a cap that uses a allen head scewdriver to remove next to the oil fill is this for the tranny? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bob

Bob, you're going to have a bunch of folks tell you to get a service manual, and they are all correct, you pretty much have to have one if you're going to do your own wrenching. I'm like you and also have to change all the fluids when I buy a new bike. Lots of opinions on the oil, but I put the HD Synthetic in all three locations and have been very happy with the performance. You should have a drain plug for the engine oil, the tranny, and the primary. To put oil in the primary you have to remove either the derby cover and put in one quart. For the engine it goes in the dipstick hole. The tranny is filled through the tranny dipstick hole, which is just forward of your right rear passenger floorboard. Uses a large allen wrench and is chrome, just forward of the exhaust pipe.

On my '05 Ultra, the engine oil is on the left front of the oil pan, there's an allen head nut that the manual says 'do not remove' (?), and the main transmission drain plug is on the right side bottom of the oil pan. On the right hand side of the bike is the clutch inspection cover (large circle w/ 5 torx-head nuts) and below that is the drain plug (magnetic to catch filings) for the primary (clutch and chain).
