Default OIL LEAK! HELP!

Rode the 20 miles into work this am and noticed oil all over the right side! It's like a fine mist, coming from underneath the carb and spraying back onto the oiltank, rear shock and saddlebag. Looking at previous posts, I'm not sure if this is "normal" or not. It's a '99 Evo motor with low miles. Someone suggested head gasket, but I don't think so (I hope). Should I panic? I've only had her 2 days!!!

Don't worry!! Take a rag along with you and when you stop, wipe off the air filter and bottom of the gas tank. You might try lowering your engine oil, but still keeping it in the acceptable range. There are several solutions including ‘The Cure’ from CCP http://www.directparts.com/ccp/cure.htm , Kuryakyn rocker arm covers, adding a crankcase breather system, Krank vents, etc….

Find out if it is coming from the breather system, or if you've lost a pushrod tube gasket, or a head gasket is getting ready to let loose.

A couple of good suggestions already, is this the first time you have had a problem, and have you done any mods to the bike recently.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've made no modifications, I've only had her a week! However, it IS a custom, and the PO might have played around a little. I think I remember seeing among the receipts for the bulid, a bill for Crane cams! For now, I think I'll just A: Keep an eye on the level B: Carry a rag and C: RIDE!!!
