Default Checking oil level

I did a search and didn't find an answer to this anywhere- my manual says when checking the oil level (2000 Road King) to insert the dipstick til it bottoms. Does this mean fully insert it, as in all the way in fully closed, or just stick it in til the rubber section hits the fill spout?

2006 VSCR Street Rod Question.
Bought in April 05 and have 4500 miles on it.
One service trip to dealer.
I have checked and needed to replace 1.5 quarts so far.
Dealer states you could use anywhere between 1 to 1.5 quarts every 1000 - 1200 miles.
No leaks on the garage floor.
Is this possible or could there be bigger issues?
Still time left on warranty.
Thanks
Joe

Shovelhead Bob, I just purchased my 06 Ultra at Cerinis last saturday. I'm from Greensburgh also. I have an oil checking question for you. I was told to check the oil on the jiffy stand. Also do it when its warmed up. Today I checked it cold and the oil was at the add mark. Which is no problem. I then checked it after a goor 20 mile ride. Oil was on the same mark. The add mark. Do I need oil added? I'll be at Cerinis tomorrow to do something with Jason. Maybe i'll see you there for the answer.

You have to let the oil settle for a few minutes......

You can't just pull out the dipstick after you have shut it off.....

You are doing it correctly, just take a few minutes, let the oil settle and you will get a much more accurate reading.....
