Oil Temperature question
I recently installed an Oil Temurature guage in my 2008 Ultra. I need to set the guage to warn me of unsafe operating temps, and can't find the info I need to do so. What would be the upper limit for oil temperature in this bike, so as to shut down before causing damage?

That really depends on what oil you are running. Plus if it is an EFI bike it will have a heat management mode that is outlined in your owners manual. Synthetic oil will handle temps over 300F and dino oil starts to oxidize at 250F.
Just use one of the folowing and you will be fine:
Mobil1Vtwin 20w50
Amsoil MCV 20w50
Redline 20w50
Spectro 20w50
HD Syn3 20w50

having overheated pretty much in a traffic jam the other day, I noticed my Amsoil on the pressure gauge went from my usual 8-10 lbs. idle pressure to 0. So I go by my pressure to determine when to get off the highway and get a cold drink.
Old Trumpet rider's trick: touch oil tank with fingers - if you can't hold it there for 3 seconds, it's a bit hot. If it tries to scald you on contact, you should have left the road ten minutes ago.
