??????? testing oil pressure sending unit ???????????
1993 ultra
oil pressure dropped down to 5psi the other day. the service manual says how to install the oil pressure sending unit. it also says test it for proper operation, but it doesnt tell you how to test it. can anyone help !!!!
riding at cruising down the road at 55mph pressure was around 20psi, slowing down to turn dropped to 5 psi.

Buy a new sending unit.

The Harley gauge I have on my bench takes 134 ohms from the sending unit terminal to ground to read full scale.
Items needed:
ohm meter
1/4 " pipe tee
0 ~ 100 psi gauge
1/4" pipe to schrader valve
Install the sending unit, gauge and schrader valve into the tee.
Using an air hose, bicycle pump, whatever, put pressure on the schrader valve till the testing gauge reads 100 psi.
Bleed air till the 0~100 gauge reads 60 psi.
Hook an ohm meter to the wires from the sending unit. You should read approx 135 ohms. 30 psi will read approx half that.
If the sending unit only has one wire the other ohm meter wire will go to the metal on the sending unit body.
