loosing oil
i checked the engine oil when i bought the bike in may a 2010 with 5000 miles from the stealer and oil was a little low he said its suppose to be low and i added to the hot full then after a i rode 1500 miles it was down 1/2 quart is this normal in hot weather there are no leaks and no smell of burning oil

My bike is earlier than yours, but I would be happy with half a quart in 1500 miles! I suggest you ask your dealer for an owners manual, if you weren't given one, or download one from HD's website, go to the 'Owners' tab.

that i did read for sure but the are 2 ways of checking hot or cold and the checking hot should be at the full or in the middle but i checked when it was hot and i know for sure that i lost some oil my friends with ultra tell me it is not uncommon when the weather is this hot to loose oil especially if i run regular not syntetic
