I went to the dealer and ordered a SE ignition module for my 98 FXSTC and the they gave me p/n 32421-94 8000rpm and the sticker and the instructions say it's for 1994 and later FLT,FLHT, FLHR models all other 1994 1340 models require p/n 32421-85B. I pointed this out to the guy and he double checked the number in his magazine size SE booklet and swears up and down that it is correct and the sticker on the part is wrong. It doesn't list on the HD website and the newer big catalogs list 32630-96 which is a 6000rpm limit ignition. My question is, is this the right module for my bike or not? What could the difference in the modules be? And most importantly will it run right with this ignition? Shovelhead bob you still out there. HELP I'm so confused.
You probably already know this, but unless there's an adjustment on the module, the ONLY thing you'll gain by changing your module has to do with the rev limiter, and if you're thinking of running over about 5800 rpms with stock valve springs, etc., DON'T!!
Ignition modules are overrated! They won't give you anymore horsepower, etc. The only thing they do is provide the signal for the spark. The adjustable ones give you some timing ability, but otherwise they only raise the rev limit.
