You know, now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever ridden between Fallon and Austin without stopping at Middlegate for either snack or beverage! But driving it in the truck, I've done it in about an hour and a half.
I've not gone to Carlin, so I can't help much there. Same with Elko.
I did just do some camping this weekend out near Ely, which was the first time I've been east of Austin (on the ground, anyway...). The road east of Austin has some pretty nice scenery!!
I'm sure you noticed that the town of Eureka is not far past the turnoff for Carlin - depending on the time of day (i.e if you're hungry), there's a mom & pop burger joint in Eureka that has great milkshakes
No, sorry if I was misleading - that was Fallon to Austin in an hour and a half. Probably a touch longer on 722, but you're probably still under two.
Reno to Virginia City will probably take you about 45 minutes, depending on where you stay in Reno and how traffic on 395 is.
Virginia City to Fallon takes about an hour.
Like I said, Fallon to Austin will be about an hour and a half, hour forty five.
I didn't really pay attention to how long it took to get from Austin to the turnoff for Carlin, but if I remember right it's 70 miles from Austin to Eureka, which is only 5 miles or so past that turnoff. So, it's probably an hour or so.
I drove from Fallon to Whidbey Island, WA in 16 total hours once - and that's 60 miles longer than driving from Reno. Granted, it was in a car - but it was also overnight, with lots of caffiene stops, driver swaps, and at least one nap!
When I rode the bike from Whidbey to Fallon I did it in 3 days, but that was cutting over to Spokane (where my folks live) and coming down though Caldwell, so not exactly a direct route.
I bet you can do Vancouver-Reno in 2 days, if Seattle isn't too much torture for you! [:-]
thats why we re leaving vancouver on wednesday evening, trying to get a head start and there wont bee any wait at border and road should be clear all the way to seattle... probably there before it gets dark... the goal is at least portland before beers + bedtime...
so... finaly!!! ridin week coming up! so excited! not a single rain drop in the forecast for the next 7 days in our path should be awesome ok maybe not the 110+ forecast in Nevada but i ll sure we ll survive!
We re offWednesday, hoping to make it as far as Eugene, Oregon thats night wake up early thursday and make it to Reno on thursday night. Off to Elko On Friday, not too sure how far in idaho on saturday hopefully back in Canada on Sunday and Monday back in Vancouver...

/cheers!
i hope we dont run into them damm moron crickets! lol...
so 7 hours riding from Elko will only get us about 3 hrs north of Boise... humm, just trying ot figure out where we`re goingto overnight in Idhao on saturday...
