Wife and I are native Californians currently living in NC.
She's pestering me to move back to CA. I explained to her that most of my guns, and all of my vehicles are illegal in the People's Republic of California, which is one of the reasons I left after 4 generations. But, I digress....
My current bike is a 2007 FXDC, no CA emissions, SE A/C, V&H Slipons, SE/Dealer EFI map.
IF (a big IF) we were to move back to the Golden State, is there any hope of keeping my bike legally?
As a resident of another state I don't believe you'll have any issues bringing you're bike into Ca. If you already lived in Ca. and bought a used bike from another state it has to have a certain amount of miles on it. Not sure if it would apply in your case. If it did, I'd just ride it until you get the miles on it.
They're not inspecting for emissions that I'm aware of.
Unless things have changed since I left the restrictions on guns are on full autos.
Supposedly all it needs is 7500 miles and you are good to go. I brought a bike in from Florida once ( I wanted the 49 state model with the 15500 redline) and I had to have the CHP inspect it and then was able to register it. I don't remember needing the 7500 miles but I have read about it here numerous times.
I've also heard if it's plated in another state for 1 year your good. Best to call the DMV yourself. Heres the link man. C'mon back...we need all the fine upstanding gun owners we can get to set this place straight. I should warn you though...there is a STUPID bill before the governator now (AB1471) that...if passed will require all new handguns sold to microprint the model & serial# on the shell casing...what makes it worse is it also calls for all pre-bill handguns not to be allowed to be bought, or sold in California!
Here is a link to the DMV: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/
And here is a link to the bill I'm speaking of. Too many &@#!%bleeding hearts here bro!:

If you live out of state and bought the bike while out of state the 7500 mile rule does not apply. That is to keep people that live in Ca. from buying a new bike from out of state and bringing it here to circumvent emissions. You should have no problems with the bike.Your cars will need smog tested and certification though. As far as guns, what guns.[:-]
you don't need to have 7,500 miles on it, I registered my out of state bike with only 2,000 miles on it, there is no emmisions check, it is not a car, you can bring it as it is.... nobody to check it....
If you are a Ca resident buying an out of state bike it must have at least 7500 miles.
Since you are moving here that rule does not apply to you.
As far as your guns...What guns??
Technically you are suppose to surrender anything that is now illegal in Ca.
You can check the CA DOJ website for a list of banned weapons.
