Unless hell freezes over Ill be up there maybe we can hook up and i'll buy you a beer. I have to agree the suicide ride is the best and that really is a SWEEEEET bike, but then again i'm biased.
P.S. I just emailed you regarding the speedo.

I was planning on going, but I understand the traffic is a nightmare coming over the mountains from CA.

Can anyone shed some light on a better way around? Splitting lanes for 100 miles is not my idea of fun, and sitting in bumper-bumper isn't either.

Thanks!

Last year we went up on Friday, left about 10:00am from Santa Rosa.Went up 80 to 50 through Tahoe, and absolutely no traffic.

Found this out this weekend, you can't split lanes in Nevada.LOL.Oops

I've never had traffic problems in the mountains, only around Sac. The little bit of traffic you'll encounter in the mountains is still way on the Cali side, when you get into Nevada you're free and clear (the state border is only about 10 minutes from downtown Reno), so drive in whatever maniacal Californian manner that you're accustomed to when in traffic, because you're still in your home state. J/K!

Coming from Cali and if you haven't been here before, I would take 80 to Truckee and take 89 down to Tahoe City, hang a right on 28 and take that around the south side of the lake and through South Tahoe, take 50 to Carson City and then 395 up to Reno. It's an extra 1 1/2 hours or so, but well worth it. That's the course I usually end up on if I have 2 hours or so to ride but no destination in mind.

I've been to Reno waaaaayyyy too much to count, and lost more money than I want to think about.

Its just the SV weekend that I have heard is bad. Kind of when I have gone to Hot August Nights and sat in traffic for hours.

If its not bad, then I guess I will be there providing I don't have to work!

Do you guys do the multi day thing, or just go and come back same day?

It's not any worse than any other weekend, not at all like Hot August Nights, the event isn't nearly as big, not to mention that the HAN people tend to show up at the same place early and stand around all day, where the SV people go for rides all day to many different locations. It's not nearly the traffic jam that HAN is.

I'll assume the other question is not for me, as I'll be going every day since I'm about 15 minutes from downtown.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'll be there.

So ya, for anyone else that goes... Is it a multi day stick around type event, or do you just pick a day and go up for it?

Dont worry about traffic its really a non issue, however if you come up donner summit on 80 youll find the pavement pretty rough, stay in the fast lane as its alot better. Ill be making a few trips down for sure as i can get to reno in about 35 minutes.
