RE: SoCal to Laughlin River Run
Wife and I are riding up the week before. We have a house in Bullhead 3 miles down river from Harrah's. We are doing a loop of southern Arizona, coming back to Bullhead Thursday when the rally starts.
We'll be staying at Harrah's again this year. Hope some of you will stop by the Renegade booth and introduce yourselves. Grover, I hope you and the Misses stop by again this year.
Warning â US 40 has an 8 mile stretch of single lane 45 mph due to bridge repair and it really backs-up (just came back from Laughlin in the cage.) I strongly suggest taking a slight but nice detour on Route 66. Exit US 40 at Ludlow and go east through some of the historical Route 66 towns. The road parallels US 40 re-joins US 40 past all of the detour/construction zones. Well worth it
My 2 centsâŚ.Dan
Thanks for the heads up mrsr71,
I did part of that route (66) last year, not sure if they have resurfaced route 66 since, kind of doubt it. That detour was a very rough ride/ lots of pot holes and dips. Shook my bike up real good! I'd like to know if anyone rode down that section of rte 66 lately?
I forgot to mention that an approximately 15-20 (?) miles of roadway have been resurfaced and itâs SMOOTH.
Dan
I was out that way today and a long stretch was so bad I thought my bike was gonna rattle apart.
I rode through there last weekend.
Route 66 was a great ride. As a matter of fact I got on 40 for a prtion of the return trip between Needles and Ludlow and it was horrible. I rode a thousand miles that weekend and that stretch on the 40 (About 50 miles) was the worst part of the trip. None of us on the ride could figure out why.
I suggest you ride the 66.
FYI Roys Cafe was closed for renovation.
Leaving WED Morning... Staying 10 min from the AVI... Be in Laughlin Wed PM & Thursday & normally in Oatman Friday as we stay away Laughlin after Thursday... (LOL)
