Default EAast San Diego County Route Question

So my uncle is coming out here to visit and is renting a Street Glide for a day that we both have off. He's never ridden in San Diego before, and my experience with East County is limited to a couple trips down 94 to Campo and one trip through Julian via Sunrise Highway in a car.

The route I am planning is pretty epic. We decided since we only had one day to ride, we would make the most of it. We are picking up the rental bike at SDHD on Morena and plan on riding south down the 5 to Chula Vista and cutting accross to Otay Lakes blvd *First decision* do I take 94 right out of downtown and zip straight out of town, or is the Otay Lakes road route really worth the trip? (looking for scenery and ridability here, time is not much of an issue for us).

Then we are planning on heading out 94 through Dulzura, and here's where the next question mark comes up... I can't decide whether to cut up Barrett Lake Road to meet up with Lyons Valley Rd which turns into 79 North once you cross the I-8, or to keep going on 94 through Campo to S1 North to Old Rte 80 until it turns into Sunrise Highway and ride that up to 79 near Julian. What are your guys' thoughts on the Barrett Lake Road north vs. staying on 94 to S1 (Buckman Springs Rd)?

After Julian we plan on heading north on 79 to 76 towards Oceanside (which we plan on riding all the way to the coast. I am contemplating a possible detour to S7 near Lake Henshaw that just looks fun on a map. Anyone have any insight on the road conditions of the S7 (East Grade Rd) that cuts off the 76 and meets back up with it later on? Is it even worth the detour and/or ridable on two big twins?

I pretty much have it figured out from there, cutting over to coast and back down towards the city to see some more pedestrian sites.

I am open to suggestions and welcome your inputs on these route options.

It's been a long time since I've done Otay Lakes but I remember it being a nice ride.

I'd do Sunrise Highway. It's one of my all time favorite rides.

So I found out that part of Barrett Lake road are unpaved and unsuitable for riding, bummer, it looks like a nice route.

So looks like S1 to Sunrise Highway it is. I'm also leaning towards the Otay Lakes route, although I don't look forward to paying a toll.
