I mean, doing the TAT on a large adventure bike like the R1200GS is virtually impossible for all but the best riders. Unless you want to spend 99% of the time following it via tar.
Hey, the PanAm is on my list for new bikes - I like the styling and hope it's a contender for a good ADV bike, but make no mistakes, an ADV bike of the GSA and PanAm's size is nothing more than a gravel road bike for 99% of riders. Buy a DR650, KTM 790ADV, Tenere 700 if you have any notions of riding "off road" and not killing yourself while travelling.
In about 2 years I will let you know how the PA did the TAT.
Im #1 in line at my local dealer.... I was told mid April timeframe for delivery..
Looks like they missed the mid-April timeframe. I finally got my VIN today. It will be a Pan Am Special in Baja Orange/White with laced wheels and the active suspension upgrade.

Congratulations! My order is the Gauntlet Gray with AHR and Spoked Wheels. As of yesterday there was still no information about status.

Gauntlet Gray was my preferred color choice, as well, but my AZ dealer is very small and not likely to get more than two allocations before late in the year. So, I wasn't going to be picky on the color.
Congrats on getting your order in. Now that the media has put their 2-cents worth in, like yesterday's Cycle World review, I have a strong feeling that PanAMs will be difficult to get for a while.
Today I made the decision to create a community specifically for Pan America Riders to focus on the unique aspect of this new form of Harley-Davidson touring. Anyone interested can PM me for info.

Mine is supposed to ship May 3rd. Black Special with laced wheels and no adaptive ride height. I have the black aluminum panniers in the garage.
Put a deposit down to reserve at the local dealership after the initial online bikes (2 of them) go out. I'm 4th on the list of people who put deposits down after the online reservation. My dealer is a large volume dealer, so I may not have to wait too long. That being said, I might pass over when my name is called. Still weighing my options as the GSA might still find its way into my lap.
I really like the PA, though at the moment I look at ADV with interest, that nearly ended in a purchase some months ago in Moto Guzzi V85-TT.
The V85-TT is my favourite adv bike of the moment. PA is very close, but for weight and power I would still put a Multistrada 950 before a PA 1250.
I hope HD does a 950 Pan America with a similar design and the same features in the near future. I would be tempted a bit more, still at the moment custom cruiser is still my World.

How did you get a vin number.. Im #1 at my dealer and they haven't received any information on it yet. as far as ordering one they are just sending the first ones out to allocated dealers. Not sure how people are ordering them with options they want,,Right now its just a wish list from the dealers as far as ordering.
