What path are you using when running the Zumo power cable from the battery ? Any pictures ?
I ran mine from the battery into and out of the left hand side lower fairing pod and left all the spare wire and the (presumably) voltage converting dongle thing inside the pod. Then from there up the neck of the bike and along the bars. I attached the Zumo mount using the bolts that hold the left hand side hand guard on.
I'll take some pics for you tomorrow, but they might not be very helpful as you can't see the wiring unless you look really hard.
