I am in the process of restoring a 65 pan. Of course the research is a challenge.

it appears bolt finishes can be either cadmium or parterized (darking in color).

My question is, on the '65 pan's was there a standard for the bolt nut finishes?
Or could it depend on what part was being installed! Motpr mounting bolts. Exhaust pipe bolts. Starter bolts. Any type.of bolt, LOL.
Thanks,
Chip

You need to buy Bruce Palmer III restoration two volume book set. Answers all of these questions plus about another 1000 you will have during the process. Good luck.

Architect,
Thanks for the reply.
But Palmer's book only covers up to '64, not 65's.
65's are a lone ranger, one year bike.
I was hoping I could find someone that has a lot of experience with restoring one.
All the little details are hard to find answers to, at least in print.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks,
Chip

Best bet is to find someone with an unrestored 65 Pan (still a few out there) and then work backwards. Over next couple days I'll upload some factory pics of a 65. At least it will givce you an idea. Other option you might consider is to join the AMCA forum and post up there as well.

Your dilema is the same that I am going to face as I try and get my 65 back to a somewhat original condition.

Lastly, how about a build there? Where you at now on it?

we did a few 65s and the finish is cad plating and no park on the first electric start machine - the bolt heads with some not all is CP and a very few CP 1038 and even CP 1041 bolt head inscription

this is one of them they were both the same color
