Default 49 charging.

Hey guys,
Took the pan out for a ride today. Feeling more comfortable with it after every ride, until she died. Turns out my new lithium battery was dead. I guess the bikes not charging while running. Did some quick checks online, found a site that says to use a ohm meter on the posts of the generator. Seems I have 4.2ohms to ground on the "A" post, and 10.5 to 11ohms to ground on the "F" post. Post to post I have 5.8 to 6.5ohms.

Think the generator is bad?

you have 2 Chinese one the genny and the regulator - they are always suspect and the book info they are talking about is for an original 6 volt mechanical regulator - you have a electronic

remove both and bring to a starter rebuild shop they can check them and let you know what's up

this is an easy mistake to make not having experience in charging systems differences - the link is for 1970 and newer AC stator / magnet drum charging system

and not a brush / armature generator like the picture you posted

http://www.cycleelectricinc.com/

...and you should consider installing one of their regulators that go over the end of the generator instead of your current unit. makes a really clean appearance
