Great work! When I restored my 62 Police special, that was the year they moved the siren to the rear wheel. The rear shock nuts I believe should be parkerized and the front brake backing plate would look better in black. I know the bikes varied from state to state so the details are all over the place regarding blacked out parts. If you run the rear siren, the cable tab should have a 90 degree forward bend on it, not straight out. The straight tab is for aluminum primary bikes so the cable clears the much wider electraglide primary outer.

Guys thanks for the kind words. As far as the rear siren, that was available for the 59 model year. The “flex locs” for the shocks and other applications were only available in cad I believe. The front brake backing plate was available in standard and polished finish. I was lucky to come across an NOS one unpolished years ago. As far as the rear siren hub tab, that’s interesting; that particular siren came with my bike, but who knows when it was added. Palmer mentions 5 different variations in that rear hub from 1959-1970 so I have some research to do.

I got lost on the variations of the hubs in palmers book. The siren I bought for mine was like yours so I bent the tab after measuring another one I was able to look at then cad plated it.

My 62 this spring, I've since sold it and focusing on another resto which I'll keep!

I see my flex locks were cad to so disregard that!

hey I came across your 62 build, you did a great job of photographing everything step by step, I never had enough time to document the complete restoration. I can’t be,ie e you sold it after all the work you did. What is your other project?
