Default 48-54 wiring

What is the purpose of the red and yellow wires going from switch to the terminal plate #20 & #10. These two wires do not jump with any other wires?????

The yellow is for parking lights. It becomes live when you turn the dash switch all the way to the left. I never include it. The red is a "hot all the time" wire. I usually use this to hook up spotlights. You can wire the spots right to this junction and use the toggles on the back of the light to control on and off. Just remember it's hot all the time, as it comes from the hot terminal on the dash switch. The only way to turn the spots off is by flipping the toggles. The other way to control the spots is with a 2 position handlebar switch that mounts on the throttle side of the bars. But i have only seen this mounting setup on police bars. I think the toggle mounted there was for the flashing lights on a police bike. Of course, it's way possible that when the bike was purchased new, the dealer would offer a 2 position toggle on the right to control the spotlights. They would drill and tap 2 holes on the underside of the bar to match the pattern on the toggle housing. And I guess if you really wanted to mount a toggle for the spots anywhere you could use 2 straps that were offered to fasten the toggle switch to the bars, running the wires on the outside and clipping the loom to the bars.

Yes-- I have been informed by someone outside this forum that those leads are used for sidecar lighting etc.... Seems about right.
