Default Hinged fender question

`65 FL Police bike
Wires to tail lamp are "armoured" with a metal spring approx 1/2" x 10"
Is it factory or a bodge ?
Part number ?

I would think tape would be the bodge. That spring sounds like an expensive bodge.?

Always looked at a spring used as a cover on a wire is to keep it from kinking in the same place and not returning along with shielding it.

Local hardware store not a big box mine carry’s that spring for something we cut it to fit
