Gearbox countershaft 1st gear end play
I am working on restoring my 4speed Pan gearbox, and there is a thing I dont get. My countershaft 1st gear end play is 0.02. Is that considered normal?
I found nothing in my service manual regarding countershaft 1st gear end play, and to my knowledge there is no shim available, just a one size washer (35812-36).
My countershaft is a new Andrews, the washer/shim (35812-36) is new and measures 0.057.
My 1st gear is not new but in what I would consider great condition.
we set anything i am not sure of at .010 and i work on all the old stuff going way back and that is a rule of thumb number - it wont be too much and slop around and it wont be to little and seize - but the Harley 4 speed gives you all the numbers but hi gear we use .010 to .012 not .025 i believe thats is a mis print
