I want to start a build project. I’ve restored a Norton Commando and other European bikes, but never a HD. I’m excited about starting a new project, but I want to start with the right frame that’s worthy of a build. I don’t want a new bike or any AMF year bikes.
I stumbled upon a pan head frame (I think) but it has multiple numbers. It’s in beautiful shape and appears to be unmolested (but with multiple numbers maybe it’s a few frames welded together?), but I can’t determine what it is.
This will be a slow budget build, I’m in no hurry, just want to have fun.
Can someone help me please?
Here are some pictures.
Thanks!

That looks like an HM repro frame, almost too nice to be genuine '48. If it's a genuine one it's been in storage for most of it's life. Great looking frame for a build but don't paint it until you dry fit everything, if it's repro it may need some 'massaging' here and there. What style build?
It looks like a nice frame, my 48 frame was just as nice so they do exist. Only problem with a painted frame is things could be hidden and I bet that one is expensive.
48 is a one year fork as it has a lock in the neck and a hole inn the fork post for it and no horn mounts on the down tubes - have one in the shop if it has any of that to compair
Hellonewman, It is not my frame but that is definitely clean for its age.
Norcoastal, so what the plan? Gonna be a Johnny Cash special? I am in the SF Bay Area if I can be of any assistance. Have a couple of Pans and a Shovel and put more together over the years. Oh, and as Paul stated, that is a '50s frame.

I thought it was a scam because he wasn’t answering me, but he did today. I don’t trust people because I’ve been burned before. He’s on Long Island so I may send my son who is in NJ to pick it up. I’m buying it.
What do you think it’s worth?
My thought today is to build an original stock bike. I love the look of the early bikes. I’m hooked on the show Wheels Through Time.
