I'm still of couple of months out I'm sure of it, but soon I think I'll be working on a 51' pan that my dad just gave to me. One of the first things I wanna do is get an s&S super e on the thing. when I was lookin I didn't see any manifolds that would fit a 51. do they make em?
thanks,
pat
If you still have the" plumber " type intake you may be SOL. If it has been converted to the O-ring type, S&S has a manifold that will work. I don't think that a "G" would be a good idea unless you are built over 86" I have run a few super E's on pans. I have a old super "B" on mine, and love it!
are those the same as the shovel manifolds for rubber bands? I think they run like 30 bucks? This thing is gonna be a ton of work, I gotta convert it over to 12v, eventually replace the tins, fix a shifter fork, probly buy a new chain/sprocket. it'll be fun though
here is a picture of it in the late 60's early 70's

You need an E, and I can get you a manifold, they are cheap, I just bought one for my 54 pan project.
Imboden, let me know if ya want to sell the linkert and air cleaner...
I've put S&S B carbs on several pans, I think the E is just an updtaed B carb. And I agree with crampfan, G carbs are more for big motors; for 74s the E carb will work fine. Requisite tho is that the heads have to be o-ring type or converted.
I recently changed my 50 Panhead from a S&S B to a Super E... Its great, Best Thing you can do.. You will have to convert to o ring manifold (mine was already converted) but you will also have to use a extension block and the taller cable brackets to get it to work which is minor. The end results is a motor that starts easier. (I am down to two pre kicks one to start, no throttle when cold, one to start warm). You will also have better throttle response, better idle, smoother running all around. Good Luck !
Go with the E for sure. The G will just be too much. Been running an E model on my 69 for about 10 years. Takes about 2 seconds to light. Hang on to the original carb also, as you never know when you might want to put everything back stock.
