high speed backfire
need help 49 in a50 frame 4th gear when I get to a steady speed starts backfiring.

new bendix new plugs
set@.018 new points at.022 new plug wires and new coil,float is at a heavy 1/4",ajustable main jet.

Did it backfire before you put the new stuff on or just start afterwards?

Sounds like some minor tuning to me. Check your timing, check for intake leaks, check the colour of your plugs (white, tan, or dark) and make adjustments accordingly

Plugs should be set at .025 to .030. Backfiring through the exhaust or intake?

It would hardly run before ,backfiring through the carb, plugs soot up . I have the idle jet at 1.5 turns out main at 4.

Sounds awful rich if the plugs are sooting up....

think I found an intake leak ,how hard is that to fix ?

Are you still running the brass seals or are you updated to rubber orings ? If brass I would use hi temp silicone
