Default 51 Panhead

I am building a 1951 Panhead chopper on a budget. I have bad knees and need to make it electric start. I know there kits out there and they are easy and quick but the price starts over $1000.00 a little out of my budget. I have heard about using a 1965-1969 inner primary with some machine work. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sam

You might look at this site...http://www.4speedelectricstart.com Little over a grand.

Couple of things to consider, price on inner/outer primary, tranny case are gonna be expensive (even at swap meet prices if you are lucky enough to find them...the inner/outer primary, since they were only made from 65-69). Also need different style tranny plate, different oil bag (need 3-1/2 with battery box plus AGM battery). Then figure out the cost of a belt drive, add in needed adjustments/alignment front to rear, need to figure in late style tranny shaft and you will easily be over the grand mark. Suddenly not low budget fix anymore.
