Could it be that the rocker travel is greater than normal, or beyone the range and allowing it to contact the jiffy stand nut because the linkage isn't connected yet?

I've looked at the online HD parts catalogs and didn't find much hep there. Might be because most HD's after 1952 hsed a hand clutch rather than the rocker clutch.

They show two Jiffy stand part #'s. The second part number is the assembly that includes everything needed, but they show a different year range for them.

Well my research tells me the "bracket" which bolts to the frame is #36842-41 and is 1941 thru 1978, so that is not the problem. I know the rocker itself is the right one for my year per Palmer, he had pictures and description of each specific variation. Same with the jiffy stand bracket. The Jiffy stand is for sure later and probably aftermarket so until I get a year appropriate stand I am going to ignore this possible issue. Maybe it will go away!?!?!?!

Winner!!!! Spacer is part #36869-48, never noticed it on the diagram. The front bolt was long but I am not running front highway guards, I assumed I needed a spacer for that. Did not dig further, @eighteight thank you very much, so glad I asked.

FINALLY on two wheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As anticipated it makes moving the bike around the shop so much easier and increases floor space.

Saturday my back was feeling better so I decided time to tackle mounting the tires. Wheels have been done so caveman style with tire irons and some soapy water we got the job done using new rim strips and inner tubes. Was not too bad, on is always easier then off. I wanted to try and have the brakes done before mounting the wheels, but that was a fantasy. I spent the time to manually arc the shoes to the front drum, but I do not have a brake cable as I do not have handle bars yet!?!?! I am going to just order a cable +6" and trim as needed when I have the final set of bars mounted. When I got to the rear I have way too many loose ends so I just went ahead and mounted the wheel knowing is for sure is coming back off. Then I switched the bars on the bike from Road Glide to Fatboy, certainly not final but they look better. Real progress.

@eighteight I ordered the spacer but then the bolts where too short. Called Colony and they knew exactly what I was talking about (like I was the tenth call about it) and they said they would mail me the correct bolts. It has been a week, being patient.

When I had the bike on the ground I got to see the overall rake (too high in the back with stock shocks) and even got my wife on to scope out some ergonomics. Moving in the right direction.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread. We have a '58 up front at the shop, send me a PM if I can get some pics for you.

Well I installed the spacers which definitely seemed needed as now both foot boards are pretty symmetrical to the frame, thanks for the heads up.

But since the jiffy stand is mounted to the clutch bracket, they moved together and the rocker is still contacting the top nut on jiffy stand. My guess is that something is missing on the rocker shaft that would move it out board some, need to take it apart and give it a look. Maybe the friction disc? By the way, Colony came through and sent me the three longer bolts, no charge, good customer service.

This bracket has a considerable offset

rocker is well outboard of the stand nut
