Ok guys looking to paint my bike SATIN black not flat. I want just a lil shine. Any tips on how to get it satin and not flat. I have found a few things on the internet that has helped clear up a few questions. But wanted an opinion from any pros here.
CA268 is the flattening agent for Martin Senour(Napa/Shermin Williams) Acrylic Enamel paints. if you look up the Product Data Sheet(CA268 PDS) online you'll see the mix ratios for flat, semi-gloss, eggshell, etc.
if i remember correctly, 3 parts ready to spray to 1 part flattener is semi-gloss, 2:1 is Satin, 1:1 is flat/matte. i think it was about $60/qt for flattener last time i bought it.
if you want to do a base/clear, you can get matte clears from Dupont, PPG, BASF, etc. i've never tried them
We can do and achieve gloss from a egg shell to flat to semi flat
All paint companies have a clear and hardner that will achieve. The look you want
Ppg uses a its own line called flex n flat clear i personally dont like it
Sherwin williams is ok for flat clear but i think spies hecker andor glaurit have it down path
Bmw and mercedes is offering a semi flat product and they use spies hecker
I personally like spies hecker for the flat clear probably hands down im my professional opinion the best for flat clear
