Default Losing Primary Oil

I have a 1995 Road King. I lost about half of the primary oil in about 300 miles and there aren't any external leaks. Has anyone had this problem? If it went to the engine, could something be causing a vacuum, pulling it into the crankcase?

Check the two screws holding the stator wire clamp on. Others have had the same issue as you and that was the fix. They applied lock tite to the screws and rtv on the clamp.

On the old evo engines 2 of the bolts holding the inner primary cover are direct holes from primary to engine block. These bolts require oil resistant gasket sealer on the threads. Could also be the main shaft seal, With that said if you were to loose half the primary oil(around 16 oz's) your oil level would be way over full and blowing out the breather into the air filter. I would guess this is not happing? Could also leak at the trans shaft and starter jack shaft seals thus dumping all the oil in the tranny, I would guess this is not happing? There for it must be leaking out somewhere else. As already stated the stator wire clamp and grommet would be a good place to look.

Instead of trying to tell us what you think is happening, why don't you just tell us the symptoms. It sounds like oil leak from everywhere, including the breather, primary and tranny. What year and model and mileage? When did it start leaking/losing oil?

I guess my question would be....How do you know that you lost half of the primary oil in 300 miles? Did you "check" the level of the primary oil before your trip? (which would be something probably none of us would do routinely). Just wondering how you know the loss occurred on this particular 300 mile trip. Maybe it has occurred over a much longer period of time thus a small, slow leak somewhere as described above. You very sure you have no external leakage?? Tnx, Joe
