Are all clutch baskets and remaining parts the same for the early evos with the tapered shafts? Posted this in the wrong thread so reposted here. I have the 80-86 first 5 speed on an evo rigid project, and need to replace the clutch basket. So for example, would a 1989 FXR clutch basket fit a 1986 Softtail? Thanks.

Yes, all the actual clutch parts are the same. Shell, hub, discs, plates, bearngs...
The release mechanism (right side cover) changed in '87 as did the main release rod (that goes thru mainshaft). You can eliminate the external lever and release "finger" to update to later style but that would require changing the bearing plate.
