Default 2009 Fatboy Shifting Issue

Hoping some for some guidance.

When the bike is shifted up into fifth or six gear, and then I come to a complete stop - it will only downshift a two gears. I can’t get it first. Any ideas?

The only way I can get into first is to have the thing rolling forward again. Frustrating.

Why are you coming to a complete stop in 5th and 6th gears? Why are you not down-shifting?

I noticed it when I came to a quick stop. Is this normal?
I had to get it to roll forward in a lower gear before I could get it back to first.

Just slowly let out the clutch until it starts to grab, then down-shift into first. It takes a little practice, but you can still down-shift while coming to a quick stop.

Thank you for the replies.

Is this normal for a low mileage 2009 Fatboy? Does it need a clutch cable or clutch adjustment?

Thanks

It is normal for any make or model motorcycle I ever rode.
