Default Help!! 2006 FLHC: stripped compensator bolt

Final drive belt snapped and had to remove entire primary to replace it. Bolt for compensator came off fine. Was reinstalling it and bolt was turning hard after not very far in. Examined it and found it damaged. No clue why. Hoping the nut is OK. For a scoot this old is the dealer likely to have it? If not where can I get one? If nut is damaged what am I looking at for repairing it? The manual is not very enlightening. - Thanks

While it looks like the comp spring may be damaged, you need to stop you son from scribbling on the picture. If you are turning in by hand the nut (It's not a bolt), will get tight as the comp spring preloads. Remove the comp spring stack and try the nut by itself.

What's the threads on the shaft look like? Seen those long nuts strip and not take the shaft threads with it.
