Are you kidding me? You think an addition six ounces is gonna drag a clutch? Pour out 6 ounces of oil the lenth of a primary and see how much fluid is there. It is minimal. It helps quiet it down. I does not make any additional noise or drag.

You seem tohave very different opinions, even different than the manufacturers of these bikes.. If it works for you then that's great and I'm happy for you.

Why not make the additional six ounces be pure sweet cream with a touch of vanilla. Then when it gets all worked up into a froth you can put it on a piece of pumpkin pie!

Jason, I let a dealer dork change my fluid once on the road a long way from home a while back, and it definitely clunked worse. Changing myself at the next interval my pan almost ran over - the dipwad had way over-filled it. Put in 38 oz and it definitely cured it. I understand where you are coming from - the spinning clutch should fling out any amount even if submerged in it.

Interesting. My 07 softail calls for 32 ounces/ 1 quart. I always thought that part of the drivetrain was the same for baggers and softails.

I've been changing my own fluids after both the dealer and the local indie HD shop didn't know that the 2007 HD FLHRC - Road King Classic per the owners manual as stated on page 153 says "A wet primary change will require 38 oz. A dry fill after complete disassembly of the primary requires 45oz.

So, to answer the question on the 2007 Road King Classic about amount on a primary change... it's 38oz.
