I am starting week 4 on my project. Monday I will start installing the pulleys, rotors and transmission. Is their an easier way to find what drive belt length I will need without keep removing the rear tire and softtail in trial and error? I thought about using a string around the pulleys and measuring it but I cant find any specs on belt lenghts.
That should get you close just make sure your adjustment is all the way in so you have some slack to tighten the belt. You may wish to consult an indy shop that works on custom bikes.
After I played some more today with the cameleon paint job I came home and did more research on drive belt sizes. This chart is what I'm going to go by. You take your trans pulley and your rear pulley teeth count and then measure center to center from your trans to rear axle to get the belt size.
