Default Clutch Engage vs Lever Position

I want to know how to get my clutch to engage/disengage closer to the grip. Right now it starts to engage about 1/2 way out. I'd like it to start engaging about 1/2"-3/4" away from the grip.

I've adjusted the clutch several times according to the service manual. I've done the adjuster rod 1/2 out as well as 1 full turn out, but this does't seem to make a difference. I'm adjusting the cable to allow about 1/8" play at the lever ferule.

I've read on the forums...some say that turning rod adjuster further out will accomplish, and I've also read just the opposite. But I'm wondering if the rod position has ANY affect on where the clutch engages at the lever. I'm looking for more of a friction zone.

Use the cable adjuster to add a little more slack at the clutch lever. Try turning the adjustment two flats at a time until the engagement is where you want it and the clutch still fully disengages.
