Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
I have a 99 Roadking with 116" S&S and Jims 6 speed. The clutch is a Rivera Pro Clutch. At 100,000k I changed the primary chain and realized my bike had not shifted right for a long time. It was all of a sudden much easier to shift. But... it only lasted for a couple of weeks. I'm having trouble getting into neutral with the bike stopped. When I go into 1st gear it grinds and klunks into gear. With the bike off, its no problem.
I've adjusted the primary chain loose, no help, adjusted tight, no help. I've adjusted the clutch, no help. I've adjusted the shift drum, no help.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Please help... I'm a shade tree mechanic and refuse to go to a shop unless absolutely necessary.
Thanks all for the comments. I run ATF transmission fluid (Rivera Pro Clutch). I replaced the discs/plates. Problem fixed. I run a lot of torque and I like to use it. The Pro Clutch has been in for about 4 years.
