Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
Polished up my innner Primary while my motor was being rebuilt. My question is, reinstalling it, do I have to loosen the Trans, or can I bolt the Inner to the trans first, then tighten down the motor so I don't have binding issues????
A friend says to loosen trans, tighten motor first, check to see if motor needs to be shimmed, then install Inner, and check trans to see if needs shims? My thought would be to leave the trans tight, and true the motor to the trans......Any input?
I assumed you pulled engine---reuse the rear mounts bushings & shims in same location on trans/ tighten that area/ loosley bolt up engine to trans (front & rear) ...without gaskets---just pre-hang inner primary with a few bolts in engine & a few in trans hand tight---then tighten engine. REmove primary and go together with the rest. I just put a softail engine in last friday....worked for me. Goodluck,
