Clutch ramp issues ... maybe
A few weeks ago I was taking the short 1.5 mi trip back to my temporary lodging when as I was pulling into the parking lot the cable pulled the ramp over the ***** and I lost clutch pull ...
Well, I packed up and moved a few days later and just recently disassembled the trans cover, reset the ramp (installed a new clutch cable I'd bought) ... I reassembled it and added trans fluid. When I went out for a 'shakedown' ride the clutch cable needed adjustment within three blocks of my driveway ... then another 8 blks later ... and again another mile-and-a-half ....
Well, I got home and it seemed to be alright ...
[I had been locking the double-nut adjustment on the cable each time ... (pain in the keister undoing it, adjusting, and re-locking the nuts) ....]
Decided to ride the 25 mi to work ... mostly highway .... Had to adjust the cable once on the way to the freeway on ramp ... then when pulling into town (down shifting as taking the off ramp), as if I didn't have any clutch at all ... got it into neutral and pulled over ... before I could shut down and dismount, the clutch 'comes back' ....
When I got ready to go home ... same thing ... I have to stop within a couple of blocks when I discover the ramp went over the ***** again ... well, after scratching my head for a few minutes, I totally slackened the cable, removed the dipstick and inserted a straight tip screwdriver in and pushed the ramp aft to try to shove it back over the ***** ....
That worked and I was able to adjust the cable and get back on the road ... well the clutch was back to it's same symptoms ... mysteriously slacking and tightening so much the clutch would slip and lose forward propulsion ....
I am contemplating just replacing all of the internal parts, the inner and outer ramps, the *****, the clutch throw out rod and the adjusting rod end and nut ... any insights as to what I am missing ...?
Before the initial episode, the clutch had been working like a champ ... over 45,000 trouble-free miles ... I am really frustrated ....
** the really weird thing is the way it will slacken and then tighten up, alternately **

Pretty sure it is not ... I just had the clutch disassembled about 2,500 miles ago ... like new condition ... it's a hi performance BDL dry clutch doesn't have the stock-type diaphram clutch ... it's the coil spring type ....
I went ahead and bought the parts ... the clutch release rod, the actuator rod and inner ramp were not in stock, so will have to wait a few days to get it 'refreshed' ....

Well, just finished installing everything ... but, not sure when I'll get a ride to 'shakedown' ... all of the parts that came out looked okay ... only thing I noticed was the new snap ring that holds the inner ramp in place seemed to be a lot stiffer than the old one I took out ....
Wonder if that was it? The snap ring giving way and allowing the inner ramp to roll over the ***** (or if just short of it, give the clutch pull a 'squirelley' feel ....
