That's the question I asked Chicago Harley and they said they wouldn't know the freight cost until they sent the part???
Then I think I'd stay away from them. I buy and sell things on eBay all the time and it's not a lot of work to go to your shipper's website with the package info to get yourself a shipping estimate. Sounds to me like Chicago just isn't all that interested in making the sale to you.
I shipped a guitar amp that I had sold on EBay once to Australia and it wasn't pretty (the shipping costs, that is). We finally would up going FedEX since the guy had an account there and got a discount. I also once bought an amp from Canada and got hid with some really hefty costs. The duty fees weren't bad, but he sent it through some broker that charged me up the yazoo . Sorry, somewhat off topic.
As per UPS, you can get a book from them which will help you calculate the costs. You need to know the zip code in the USA (the 5 digit or 5 digit - 4 digit # after the address on their website) and the weight and you can come pretty close. I think that you can also calculate costs on the UPS Website with the same .
On the plus side, I know of several people who buy from the USA who live in Canada and the UK and have very few problems and you have a much more favorable exchange rate than you had 2 or 3 years ago. Believe me, you're payng for the shipping costs one way or another. Also, be sure to check, duty fees, broker costs and VAT if it applies. Try to get the total cost all at once. The amp I bought from Canada was only $350 USD, but a week later I got a letter from the brokerage for another $86USD. Almost 25% more.
Take care and Happy Hunting.
Try Hdbikeparts.com I have used them in the past and they are real good about getting what you need cheaper than anywhere I have seen. The can get you anything.
Re brokerage on shipping I agree that the brokerage fees are outragous for international shipping all courrier companies charge or have there other companies charge for the paperwork I use the expidited postal service and they charge $5 for brokerage alittle tax and duties I usually bring 20-30 items a year in from the us to canada and will not buy if the companies won't ship by USPS airmail is usually the best method for price and speed. I have shipped to auzzie land and it took about 3 weeks and was reasonable
