It was a nice, sunny day in northern California yesterday, too. I rode with my friends around the Sacramento Delta, riding the levees. The reason I moved from New York to California in 1976 was for the riding weather and I have never regretted it. There were two things I didn't like about riding in New York and they were the summer heat and the winter cold and snow. So come on out to California and enjoy the Golden State.
We did our mid winter ride December 29th in Las Vegas.
I do not believe in the farmers almanac. I thought since we were going to LVNV for New Years I'd sneak in a motorcycle rental. Actually two as the wife rides too. The almanac said it should be 15C. It was 4!!
Rented a FLHXS for her and a FLTRXS for myself. Hers had a battery tender plug -- mine did not.
We rode anyway in spite of the cold. Death Valley warmed up to 60F but then we looped round to Scotty's Castle. It was cooling off and the clouds and air felt like possible snow!!
Begrudgingly we set off back to Las Vegas and saw the temps get down to 37F. It didn't help with a 75 mph wind chill. (Travel speed).
Returned the motorcycles and warmed up for about an hour. Returned to Caesars.
Regardless -- I got a ride in during December. Merry Christmas to me...
