F.L. Wright Fallingwater House
Now I wonder how old Frank got so damn famous because I would never live in that house. It's made for midgets. Oh, excuse me, the vertically challenged. The furniture is designed for the house and it looks like it should be in a grade school. If you sat in a chair (your not allowed too) your knees would hit your chin. As you approach take a close look at the cantilevered decks, They seem to be drooping.
As a design element it's interesting, as a home, no way. All four of us came away wondering, WTF?
Lol. Mid-century modern. All the furniture was like that. In fact, it wasn't til more modern times that furniture became as large as it is now. The average size home prior to the 70s was like 900 or 1000 sq ft so smaller furniture was necessary. Now the average size home is closer to 3000 sq ft and is usually filled with furniture to fit the Hippo-sized Americans that live in them.
As the homes and furniture grew, so did the American populace. Or was it the other way around?
Falling Water is an absolutely stunning architectural home that focused on many modern living aspects that we now call "green." Wright was a genius and still is a valuable source for many modern day architects.

Also hit the Flight 93. Very good parking. Went to a late lunch in Bedford, PA at a very old Inn at the crossroad of 30 and 31 (I think) Had the crabcake. Got food poisoning just about made it home the next day. I lost over 10 pounds in the next four days. It's got to be at least 30 years since I was that sick. You have been warned.
Stopped in there a few years back on a trip to Harrisburg...... had the same reaction...... Tom Thumb would be right at home.
