My brother and my self are leaving on the 1st of June about 5 days from now and heading from northern Calif to Key West Florida we will be going on I-10 any body from the flooded part of texas think we can get through or not and are all the Motels full
Assuming the flooding does not continue, all should be peaceful by the time you get to Houston. If this pattern of flooding continues however, keep an eye both on the weather and road conditions. In May, 2011 I did a cross country ride and wasn't able to cross the Mississippi at Memphis along I40 as we had planned. The bridge was fine but all the approach roads were under water. We had to divert south and crossed the Mississippi near Vicksburg.
And I see you are from Felton. I ride around the Santa Cruz Mountains a lot and visit Felton occasionally.
I am currently living in far north Houston and watched the storms w/ great interest.
I have lived in Houston since 1990.
I-10 was shut down for a few hours and I doubt it will happen again. The last time it was this bad was Tropical Storm Allison.
It was a quirky weather event that even caught the local weathermen by surprise.
My sister lives in San Antonio and 1-10 was all clear (at this time) and never had any issues that she knew of in that area.
As far as hotels not really sure...they had a thousand or so homes in Houston flooded and right now a small town just outside of Houston has possible flooding of about 300 homes. Not sure about any major events going on in the area...no mention by media regarding any temp. housing issues.
Think next week it supposed to dry out and start to get a little hot/humid.
At least that's what the weatherman says!
