Great story. I know how tough it is to make time to take pictures when traveling solo and covering ground - much appreciated! And I relate to how "big" everything is out west vs other places. Mountains, open space, pretty much everything is on a larger scale.
For a bike wash I carry 2 micro-fiber towels. I'll hit a self serve car wash (Google searched on my phone) somewhere on my route and clean the bike up there.
So don't leave us hanging - what went so wrong at Starbucks?
I knew about that, but at the time I was in the middle of Dallas and there were no truck stops less than 40 miles away. A quick trip across the street to Kohls for $7.00 worth of rag and towel and I was in business. It worked out great.
Hobo shower !
Oops....I forgot you went to the gym and got all fancy schmancy!! LOL

I was tempted to do that, but I have this fear of hitting my bike with one of those high pressure nozzles and getting water into a place it's not supposed to be.

Long story short, I have a business here locally which has a sideline of establishing the same business for others outside of my territory. They start out making between $3,600 - $4,500 a month from day one (no, it's not a BS number, it's accurate) and I charge $19,900 to establish it. I just got done selling one to a gentleman in Dallas. I go out of my way to drive to Colorado for a guy who sounded serious, but then tried to talk me down to less than half. As if that wasn't bad enough, he was very arrogant and cocky about the whole thing. Picture the short, fat Bob from Office Space with the attitude of Robert Downey in Iron Man. I essentially told him to pack sand.

I definitely do not use the high pressure feature. I choose "soap" and cover the bike and one of the towels. Then I choose "brush" and scrub the engine and tires. By then the time runs out and I use the wet rag and wash down the bike carefully. I pump more quarters into the bay and use the "rinse" feature, but no pressure - basically a weak sprinkle. The other clean towel is used for wiping her down.
It's not perfect, but would get about 90% of those Texas hummingbirds off your windshield.
Sucks about the biz deal. At least you were on the bike and it wasn't a total loss.
