Not all at once but yes I have ridden nearly the entire Pacific coast of the US on my bike multiple times. The San Diego portion does not appeal to me in the slightest.
I have done PCH from Aberdeen, Washington to Los Angeles. The most commonly ridden stretch is San Luis Obispo up to Carmel and I have done that many years in a row at some point in the year with the exception of this year.
I am sure I will do it all over again sometime as well. When i did Aberdeen to LA, I missed the northern most part of the coast line "The Olympic Loop" as my buddy broke down several times and set us back a few days.
I highly recommend PCH but portion of it to me are boring. I used to ride Malibu/Ventura portion of PCH every weekend for many years in a row. I did head out there last week with the excessive heat we have been experiencing and the traffic once again reminded why I stay away on summer Sundays.
Seeing as youa re from NY, I am sure everything will appeal to you on this ride. Whatever portion you choose to do, enjoy!
I rode it from Bodega Bay (North of San Francisco) to Legett, then 101 almost to Astoria. Did not cross the Young's River into Astoria, wish I had. Highly recommend Jenner to Fort Bragg especially, and then the Redwood parks on 101 around Crescent City.
Hope to start at Rockaway Beach Oregon next summer and go on up into Washington, or maybe start in Anacortes and come back down to Rockaway. Are you watching Architec's trip? He is going to ride Los Angeles to San Francisco.
Some of my most memorable rides were loops I ran between 1 and 101 in California, especially Santa Rosa to Jenner on 116 then 1 to Fort Bragg then 20 to Willetts then 101 to Talmadge then 253 / 128 back to the coast through Navarro.
Many times. Morro Bay to Big sur is the best part IMO.
We just did from Cambria to Monterey in June and it was awesome. Don't forget to stop just north of Cambria and check out the whale seals on the beach.
