A friend wants to do a poker chip run to collect the H-D poker chips from all of the H-D dealerships in the Chicago metro area.
We've all heard how dangerous Chicago (as any major city) can be but I'm in Detroit frequently but I know the areas to avoid so I'm curious about the windy city and where I/we should avoid if possible.
Yea there are no dealers in the bad areas of Chicagoland. They are all in the suburbs. There may even be a t-shirt shop or two at the airports. One location is the "Chicago" HD dealer with Al Capote on the shirt. That might be in an airport. Not sure, I don't have that one. There is also a t-shirt shop in downtown Chicago I believe in an area called River North. That will be the most difficult ride as far as city traffic. I vote to just buy them online ha.

We have some poker chips from different locations that have been picked up for us by friends and relatives but we have personally rode to most of the locations ourselves.
Don't think I'd wear a T-shirt that honors a criminal but it is definitely different.
Thanks for the info.
Forget about the T-shirt stores downtown& o'hare airport, there are about 10-12 dealers all in the suburbs. using I-80 and tri-state tollway 294 would get you to most dealerships and bye-passes most if not all city traffic, don't get me wrong it's still crazy traffic just not as insane.use H-D dealer locater for street locations,B-safe and Enjoy the ride

It's looking like we'll have to postpone this run until next season.
My friend is having surgery later this month to repair a botched knee surgery that he had 1-1/2 years ago and a trip that long for him right now is impossible.
I'll be going to Springfield IL. in a couple of weeks so I may be able to grab a few chips on the way but I have no intentions of doing the "Chicago" run myself.
FWIW, I just returned from Ind. and we now have ALL of Ind.as well as MI taken care of.
By this time next year, I hope to complete IL, OH and WI., but after the 2-day, 1100 mile run this week, I plan to "pace" myself in the future!!!
